Select a month to view the balance of power between axis and allied naval fleets.
This website is dedicated to tracking the naval balance of power during the second world war between allied and axis countries.
By clicking on the links on the left, month by month you are able to follow the changes as the war progresses and also assess the impact on the balance of power as previously neutral countries join the conflict.
Though it is very difficult to know the status of every single naval unit, by consulting a large number of sources it is possible to have approxiamate though fairly accurate idea of the ships that were available at any time. This website has been compiled using data collected over many years from a great variety of sources. On occasions we have found information to be contradictory however we have used what we believe to be the most reliable source where this contradiction exists.
Battle Fleets
For every month during the war there is a link to "Battle Fleets". This gives a breakdown and brief description of each country's major warships available that month. This includes ships larger than destroyers including battleships, fleet aircraft carriers, light aircraft carriers heavy cruisers and light cruisers. Using this information you are able to assess the characteristics and strengths of ships and overall significance of each country's naval fleet.
